Jadon Sancho is on an “individual program,” according to Erik ten Hag, and it is unknown when he will once again be eligible for selection.
Since October, Jadon Sancho has been absent from the Manchester United lineup, and it is yet unknown when the Englishman will return to the Premier League powerhouses.
The 22-year-old Sancho was not selected for Gareth Southgate’s England team for the World Cup in Qatar and hasn’t appeared on the field for Manchester United since their 1-1 away draw with Premier League opponent Chelsea in October.
He was given his final international cap in October 2021.
Since moving for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund to United in July 2021, Sancho has struggled with his form.
He just deleted all of his Instagram postings, and he hasn’t tweeted since September, indicating that he is taking a break from social media.
According to Ten Hag, “We didn’t see him in the last United games since he wasn’t at the ideal fitness level and he is currently on an individual program.
We hope to see him return shortly after he finishes that. I am unable to predict when we will be able to bring him back, but we want to do so as soon as possible.”
The “individual program” for Sancho is being held in the Netherlands, while the rest of Ten Hag’s team left last week for a winter training camp in Spain.
On December 21, United’s domestic season will resume with an EFL Cup match against Burnley at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils won’t play again in the Premier League until December 27, when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford.
After a promising start to the season, Ten Hag has admitted that former Manchester City sensation Sancho is having “physical and mental” difficulties.
The England international hasn’t added to his two goals from his first five Premier League appearances this season.
With only three goals and three assists in 29 appearances, Sancho also struggled to have an impact in the division last season.
Ten Hag continued: “He was excellent while on tour and had some excellent performances against Liverpool, Leicester, and Arsenal, but after that, the performance level dropped.
You might not always be able to pinpoint the cause or reason. We’re attempting to research it right now, and we’re also trying to get him back there. It combines both physical and mental aspects.”
Ten Hag would want to see Sancho return to the fantastic form he showed at Dortmund, where in just 104 Bundesliga games, he notched 38 goals and 51 assists.
Due to Alejandro Garnacho’s performance, Sancho is aware that he will have to put in a lot of effort to reclaim his spot in United’s starting lineup.
The 18-year-old winger established himself by scoring goals against Real Sociedad in the Europa League and Fulham in the Premier League.
