After months of discussions, 21-year-old Brazilian attacker Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new, long-term contract with the Emirates Stadium.
The agreement is a component of Arsenal’s plan to convince its most promising young players to sign long-term contracts with the team.
The 21-year-old’s contract was slated to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming season, but in a major victory for Mikel Arteta’s team, he has now agreed to a new four-and-a-half-year agreement with the option for an extra year.
Mikel Arteta is optimistic that Arsenal will sign Bukayo Saka and William Saliba to new contracts in order to follow up on Gabriel Martinelli’s contract extension.
Saliba and Saka are the next players on Arsenal’s list after Emile Smith Rowe, who signed a new long-term contract 18 months ago.
Both players’ contracts expire in the summer of 2019, but extensions are being discussed. Martinelli has played a significant role for Arsenal this year and has previously received great acclaim from Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool.
His performance for the Gunners led to his selection for the Brazil World Cup team, and his new deal is a major win for his present club.
To achieve Arsenal’s goals, Saka must be secured, as the winger is regarded as one of the top young talents in football. Since his return from a loan stint out on the field, Saliba has been equally crucial in fortifying the Arsenal defense.
Manager Arteta commented on Martinelli’s new contract: “We’re thrilled Gabi has signed a new long-term contract. Every time he dons the jersey, our followers can see his quality and vitality, and every day in practice, he exhibits the same traits of diligence and moral character.
Since Gabi is still very young, we are confident that he has a lot more to offer, and it is wonderful that we will travel this path together. We are now eager to nurture his enormous talent and anticipate seeing him perform for Arsenal in the future.”
Jorginho’s transfer from Chelsea was finalized on deadline day, and Arteta was happy to complete the transfer for the Italian midfielder.
The manager of Arsenal said that his new player has shown himself; “you look at his CV, his playing record, and his quality. I believe we made some excellent choices there, and overall, the three players we brought in have benefited the team.”
When asked what qualities Jorginho will offer to his team, Arteta responded, “His intelligence, his charisma, his leadership talent, the way he understands our style of play, and the ability he has to implement that in football matches. He is a player that will blend in beautifully with what we are trying to accomplish.”
Mikel Arteta’s team will try to defeat Everton on Saturday at 12.30 p.m. in order to increase their lead over the competition by eight points.
