According to reports, Luka Modric has chosen to remain at Real Madrid despite being offered millions of pounds to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nasr.
After Al-Nasser announced Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival, they launched an aggressive attempt to sign Luka Modric, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
Although the midfielder, 37, is towards the end of his career, he is still an important member of Los Blancos.
The Croatian’s future beyond the summer is uncertain because his contract expires at the conclusion of the season, and prospective suitors are around him.
Al-Nassr, who are launching an ambitious strategy to entice prominent stars to Saudi Arabia, are reportedly one of those admirers.
They have already completed Ronaldo’s contract and are now focusing on his former teammate at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Musalli Al-Muammar, the president of Al-Nassr, has reportedly put Modric on his wish list, according to the Spanish publication Marca.
The leadership of the Saudi team has recently been in Madrid to look into possible deals for the midfielder and other players.
Al-Nassr is said to have offered him a deal worth millions of pounds in an effort to persuade him to leave Madrid.
However, Modric’s response to that offer was cutting, as the midfielder categorically rejected it.
His ultimate priority is Los Blancos, so he prefers to remain at the Bernabeu for at least another season.
Despite the sum of money Al-Nassr offered him, it is claimed that this decision is “without doubt.”
Though he hasn’t received an offer, Real Madrid are rumored to be delighted that he wants to stay and a new contract isn’t seen as a problem.
At the World Cup, Modric has already led Croatia to an impressive third-place result, demonstrating his continued status as a top performer.
Despite being rejected, Al-Nassr are not deterred because Modric said that he might be prepared to quit the team in 18 months.
However, Major League Soccer could pose a threat to the Saudi Pro League’s dominance.
It is also believed that American parties approached the Croatians regarding a potential relocation.
With the 2026 World Cup being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Inter Miami is currently leading all MLS teams in terms of player recruitment.
But Modric, who enjoys his life in the Spanish capital, has also rejected Inter Miami. According to reports, the Croatian feels “respected and loved,” sensations he is not eager to give up.
Real Madrid still view Modric as a crucial player for the long term, despite the fact that their team has been aging, particularly in the midfield.
