Marcus Rashford raises fear and injury speculation with enigmatic post following Man United’s 2-1 victory vs Barcelona

Just days before Manchester United’s Carabao Cup final match against Newcastle, Marcus Rashford posted a potentially alarming injury update.

Before Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley, Marcus Rashford may have Manchester United supporters on the edge of their seats with a story he posted on his Instagram account.

In Thursday’s thrilling 2-1 Europa League triumph over Barcelona, the in-form striker played for 88 minutes. With two minutes left in the game, midfielder Scott McTominay took the place of the England international.

While Rashford did not appear to be injured in the victory over the Catalan giants, he did post an update to his Instagram that is likely to worry United fans. It was only the fourth game in his 18 appearances since the World Cup in which he failed to score.

Rashford posted a photo on his Instagram Stories of himself strolling down the touchline at Old Trafford and a bandaged-head emoji to indicate that he is injured.

The 25-year-old has been in the finest shape of his life, having scored 24 goals in 37 games for United this season, a career high. Whether he plays centrally in a front three for United or from his preferred position on the left side of attack, he has an equal influence in front of goal.

Rashford, who currently appears first on the team sheet, has been crucial for Ten Hag’s group. Despite the short turnaround from Thursday’s match, United will be keen that the striker is fully fit ahead of Sunday’s cup final at Wembley.

Two of United’s most important games this season are separated by less than a week, and the team is aiming to win its first major prize since winning the Europa League in 2017.

Ten Hag’s side are also in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, while Thursday’s progress past runaway La Liga leaders Barcelona ensured they are in the Round of 16 for the Europa League.

They are the only club in Europe’s top five leagues that continues to battle on four separate fronts this season. In the Premier League, United is likewise in a strong position; being only five points behind Arsenal.

Ten Hag’s first season in charge is proving to be something revolutionary, but with Sunday’s final versus Newcastle looming big, winning trophies will now take precedence. Rashford’s health could be crucial to his team’s chances in the championship game.
